Year 4 / 5 / 6 - 2020 - 2021
Class Teacher: Mr Pearce
Welcome to Osprey webpage
Remote learning will be delivered via Seesaw. This will be in line with our Remote Learning Policy which has been sent to parents/carers previously.
This term our project is World War 2.
We will be looking at the events leading up to the war, what life was like in Britain for children in the war and how the war unfolded. We are reading "When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit" by Judith Kerr as a class book. This is a book set in Berlin before the war, with the main character, Anna, having to flee Germany with her family after the elections of 1933. We hope to make a visit to a site of interest this term linked to World War 2 as well as looking at artefacts from this period in time.
To keep everyone as safe as possible we ask that children do not bring in any unnecessary items to school. A water bottle and reading book is all that is needed unless your child is having a packed lunch from home. Snacks can be brought to school for break time.
Homework will now be set using Seesaw - Please see the recent email for information and guidance.
It is really important that you read with your child at least 5 times a week.
To support your child at home with their reading you could use lots of different questioning techniques. Asking your child to repeat/ summarise what they have read or picking specific events in the book to talk about will help you to understand what they have learnt. You can find lots of example questions to ask your child here.
Reading books will be sent home with each child and upon their return we will ensure to leave adequate time before given them out to any other children
Please have a look for any reading books from last year that you may still have at home and bring them back to us as soon as possible.
PE for Osprey Class will be on Thursday and Friday afternoons. The children should come to school in their PE kits in the morning.
Monday 16th – Friday 20th November - Anti-Bullying Week
The theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2020 is: United Against Bullying.
Monday 16th November - Odd Socks Day
Odd Sock Day will mark the first day of Anti-Bullying Week.
