Reception / Year 1 - 2020 - 2021
Class Teacher: Miss Elvins
Welcome to Dragonfly webpage
Remote learning will be delivered via Seesaw. This will be in line with our Remote Learning Policy which has been sent to parents/carers previously.
This term our project is Farming
We will learn about life on the farm and the animals that live there. This term, we hope to visit a local farm to take in the sights, sounds and smells. We’ll observe the different farm animals, crops and vehicles. We’ll explore the impact of modern day farming on the environment, investigate how farmers help to take care of the environment and consider how we can help. We’ll use both fiction and non-fiction books to develop our understanding of life on the farm. We’ll study the artwork of the German illustrator, Axel Scheffler and use pastels to create our own illustrations. We’ll design and make delicious flavoured breads to sell in our very own farm shop.
PE - PE will be on Fridays. Children should come to school in their PE kit on their PE day.
Forest School - Dragonflies will be going to Forest School weekly and sessions will be on Mondays. Children should come to school in their Forest School kit on their Forest School day.
Water - Please ensure that your child brings a drink of water (not fruit drinks or squash) to school each day. This needs to be in a labelled bottle that we can keep in the classroom which can be accessed during the day.
Snacks - Your child will receive a piece of fruit during morning break.
Please remember that due to COVID-19, we do not want children to bring any belongings from home into school.
Homework will now be set using Seesaw - Please see the recent email for information and guidance.
It is really important that you read with your child at least 5 times a week. You can read their reading book together, you could read the news, you can spot words whilst out shopping.
Reading books will be sent home on a Monday and will need to be returned by Thursday that week. A new book will be issued on Thursday to be returned by the Monday so that we are able to leave time between books going to different households. At present, this seems the safest way to send reading books home, but we will review this as the term progresses.
